Since 1988, Dr. Bruce Main has been the Executive Director of UrbanPromise Ministries in Camden, New Jersey. UrbanPromise, founded in 1988 under the name Evangelical Association for the Promotion of Education, is a ministry that meets the educational, social economic and spiritual needs of inner-city children and teens. Bruce is the creator, motivator, and innovator of the outreach of UrbanPromise. The ministry hosts several AfterSchool Programs, youth clinics, Summer Camps, employment readiness programs, entrepreneurial training opportunities, missionary internships, the UrbanPromise Academy for teens and the CamdenForward School. Bruce Main is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University, BA, English; Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, CA, M. Div., and has a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary. He previously served as Program Director for Youth for Christ. In 1996, Main was selected by Christianity Today Magazine as one of America's "Up & Comers Under 40 in Christian Ministry." Bruce Main has spoken both nationally and internationally at various mission conferences, colleges, churches and youth groups. Bruce Main's 20 years of hands-on ministry experience and theological training make his talks and workshops on "Spirituality and Christian Service," "Adolescent Spiritual Development," "Youth Leadership" and "Christian Community Formation," both practical and insightful. Bruce has published three books, "If Jesus Were A Sophomore: Discipleship for College Students" (Westminster John Knox Press) and "If Jesus Were A Senior: Last Minute Preparations for a Life of Discipleship" (Westminster John Knox Press) and co-authored with Tony Campolo, "Revolution and Renewal: How Churches Are Saving the City" and "Spotting the Sacred: Noticing God in the Most Unlikely Places" (Baker Books) and will be publishing his newest book "Holy Hunches" (Baker Books) in Spring 2007.
